Prof. Dr. Maria Betânia Galvão dos Santos Freire graduated with a degree in Agronomy from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (1986), a Master’s in Agronomy (Soil Science) from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (1993), and a Ph.D. in Soil and Plant Nutrition from the Federal University of Viçosa (2002). She has a postdoctoral degree in Soil and Plant Nutrition from the Federal University of Viçosa (2008) and Ecosystem Science and Management from Texas A&M University (2016). She is a Full Professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. Her research lines include saline and sodic soils, management and recovery of soils affected by salts, phytoremediation of saline soils, semi-arid soils, soil–forest ratio, semi-arid water soil, and irrigation water quality. She is a Permanent Professor of the Graduate Programs in Soil Science and Forest Sciences at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco.
Prof. Dr. Alan Cezar Bezerra is an Adjunct Professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, Serra Talhada Academic Unit, and has degrees in Environmental Management Technology (2011) and Agricultural and Environmental Engineering (2011) and completed his Doctorate in Agricultural Engineering (2020). His activities are concentrated in the area of Agricultural Engineering, with an emphasis on sustainable development, the environment, agricultural sciences, and geotechnologies. As a teacher, he shares his knowledge and experience, seeking to promote sustainable agricultural practices and the application of geotechnologies to conserve natural resources. His objective is to contribute to the training of aware and capable professionals, aiming for innovative and sustainable solutions to environmental and agricultural challenges.
