Prof. Dr. Yuanqiao Wen is the deputy director of the Intelligent Transportation System Research Center and the deputy director of the National Water Transportation Safety Engineering and Technology Research Center at Wuhan University of Technology. He received his B.S. degree and M.S. degree from the School of Navigation, Wuhan University of Technology, in 1997 and 2002, respectively. In 2006, he received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Computer Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In addition, he was a visiting scholar at UNBC in Canada and a senior visiting scholar at TU Delft in the Netherlands. His research interests mainly include water transportation safety and environment protection, unmanned systems (unmanned surface vehicles), and artificial intelligence for water transportation applications.
Dr. Axel Hahn received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Paderborn, Germany, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. From 1997 to 2002, he was the Head of Development for Product Information Systems with UNITY AG and Myview Technologies in Büren, Germany. Since 2002, he has been a Professor and a Leader of the System Analysis and Optimization Group, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany. He is also the Director of the Institute of Systems Engineering for Future Mobility, Germany’s Research Centre for Aeronautics and Space (DLR).
Dr. Osiris A. Valdez Banda is an assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Marine and Arctic Technology), Aalto University. Before joining Aalto University, he worked in safety, quality, and environmental management in port logistics, maritime administration, and the petro-chemical sector. His research focuses on the analysis of marine risks and safety system engineering, in addition to applications in smart shipping and ship winter navigation. His research focuses on the development of methods and processes for modelling and analysing the management of the risks, safety, and efficiency of the entire maritime ecosystem, with a focus on ship design and operation.
Dr. Yamin Huang is a full professor at the State Key Laboratory of Maritime Technology and Safety, National Engineering Research Center for Water Transport Safety, and Intelligent Transport System Research Centre (ITS), Wuhan University of Technology (WUT). He received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from WUT in 2011 and 2014, respectively. In 2019, he received his doctorate from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. He is mainly engaged in the research of intelligent waterborne transportation systems, including ship autonomous collision avoidance, ship motion planning and control, human–machine cooperative systems, traffic situation modelling, and the intelligent management and control of waterway traffic systems.
