Edson Leroy Meyer obtained his PhD (Physics) at the University of Port Elizabeth in 2002. His research covered aspects of Solar Energy (solar cells, modules and systems), Bio-Energy (biomass gasification, biogas digestion), Smart Energy Systems (electronic circuit design, energy efficiency, smart grids) and Sustainable Development Studies (sustainable cities and resources, building integrated photovoltaics for sustainable architecture). He has now established the SolarWatt Park on the Alice campus where essential research is conducted on various aspects of solar PV and thermal, dye-sensitized solar cells, heat pumps with solar water heaters, grid-connected PV, biomass gasification and biogas digestion. Currently, He is a Full Professor and Executive Director at the University of Fort Hare.
Dr. Ochuko K. Overen received his BSc degree in Industrial Physics at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu, Nigeria, in 2007. He joined the University of Fort Hare, Alice, South Africa, in 2010, furthering his research career. Since then, he has obtained a BSc Hons degree, an MSc degree, and a PhD in Physics. During his period of study, he was an active member of the University of Fort Hare Eskom Forensic Measurement and Verification (M&V) team. He is a recipient of the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa 2019 Innovation postdoctoral fellowship grant award. He is a professional member of the South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) and an ordinary member of the Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC).
