Prof. Dr. Maria-Iuliana Dascalu is an associate professor at the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB). She is currently the vice dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages, UPB, and a researcher in the field of applied computer science as well. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at the Alexandru-Ioan Cuza University (UAIC) in 2006 and a Master’s Degree in Software Project Management at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) in 2008. She defended her PhD thesis in July 2011 in the field of Economic Informatics at ASE. From May 2014 to October 2015, she was a postdoctoral fellow at UPB. In 2016, she was the recipient of the Danubius Young Scientist Award and obtained an Excellence Award in Informatics at the Young Researchers in Science and Technologies Competition-Rada Mihalcea Award in 2017. Her primary research interests revolve around e-learning and e-training, VR/AR for active learning, social and semantic web, knowledge management, and systems engineering.
