Mudhar Al-Obaidi is a lecturer at the Middle Technical University, Iraq. He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Baghdad and University of Technology in Iraq in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He obtained his PhD in chemical engineering in 2018 from the University of Bradford, UK. He contributed to five peer-reviewed journal papers in water and wastewater quality research before starting his PhD research at Bradford in 2014. Since then, he has focused his research on developing a reliable reverse osmosis process for the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater and food processing. The research included the development of new but complex and detailed mathematical models to be used in simulation and optimization for addressing several design and operational problems in wastewater treatment by the reverse osmosis process. Furthermore, intensive research was also carried out to improve performance indicators in several cases of seawater and brackish water desalination systems involving renewable energy systems to mitigate the overall energy consumption. These have resulted in over 125 peer-reviewed journal papers and conference presentations. Also, Dr Al-Obaidi issued his first scientific book in 2020, titled Wastewater Treatment by Reverse Osmosis Process ( CRC Press) and contributed chapters in three books.
