Assoc. Prof. Rainichka Mihailova-Garnizova, MD, Ph.D. is a Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and the Second Clinic of Infectious Diseases, Military Academy, Sofia. She graduated in Medicine in 1986 at Medical University-Sofia and further acquired Medical specializations both in "Infectious Diseases" and "Internal Diseases". In 2011, he defended his Ph.D. thesis: "Organization of the activities of the medical institutions of the Medical Academy in the event of a biological attack" and got her Ph.D. diploma. She was one who first published a monograph on coronaviruses before the Covid pandemic. Since 1991, he has been working at the Military Medical Academy, and in 2017 he was appointed Head of the Second Clinic for Infectious Diseases. Since 2016, Dr. Garnizova has held the academic position of "Assoc. Prof." Since 2020 Assoc. Prof. Rainichka Mihailova-Garnizova, Ph.D. is also a prominent teacher at the Bachelor and Master Programs at Dept. Natural Sciences, New Bulgarian University.
Asst. Prof. Jordan Hodzhev, Ph.D. is a biostatistician and bioinformatician in the sector Microbiome, National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, member of the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), Deft, NL. He is a member of the Bulgarian Society for Microbiology (BgSM).
Yordan Hodzhev graduated in Molecular Biology and post-graduated in Molecular biology and Biochemistry from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Sofia, Bulgaria. He also completed a Minor: “Pedagogy in Biology and Chemistry”. In 2019 he was appointed molecular biologist and a Ph.D. student at the National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. There, he defended his Ph.D. thesis: ‘Bioinformatic and microbiome analysis in the pathogenesis of Sarcoidosis”, with scientific supervisor Prof. Stefan Panaiotov. DSc. He participated in various projects of the Bulgarian Science Fund. He is a leading author or coauthor in more than 20 original articles in Scopus and WoS-referred journals.
