Adrian Wiater is a Professor at the Department of Industrial and Environmental Microbiology, Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Maria Curie–Skłodowska University. In 1991, he graduated from the Władysław Jagiełło General Secondary School in Krasnystaw and, in the same year, began studies at the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, majoring in biology. He received his master’s in June. He carried out this work at the Department of Biochemistry at UMCS. In 1996, he was employed at the Department of Industrial Microbiology of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University as an Assistant Trainee and, from 1997, as a Research and Teaching Assistant. In 2002, he obtained a doctorate in Biological Sciences in Industrial Microbiology. In 2013, he also obtained the degree of habilitated doctor in the field of Biological Sciences in the discipline of Biology. He was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission in 2010. In 2013, he was distinguished by the Prime Minister with the Honorary Badge “For merits for invention”. Moreover, in 2013 and 2014, he was distinguished with the “Maria Curie” Scientific Award granted by the Chapter of the “Maria Curie” Scientific Award chaired by the Rector of UMCS and the title “Bene Meritus Terrae Lublinensi”, granted by the Bene Meritus Chapter. He is a member of both the Polish Federation of Biotechnology and the Lublin Scientific Society.
Michał Tomczyk is a Pharmacist and a Full Professor at the Medical University of Bialystok (Poland). He was Vice-Dean for Science at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Bialystok from 2019 to 2020. He was a member of the Senate of the Medical University of Bialystok (2020-2024). Tomczyk is also an Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Acta Poloniae Pharmaceutica – Drug Research. He graduated in Pharmacy (MPharm) at the Department of Pharmacognosy of the Medical University of Bialystok in 1995. He began his scientific work at MUB’s Department of Pharmacognosy during his university years, where he was employed successively as an Intern Student, Assistant, Assistant Professor, Adjunct, and ultimately, the Head of the Department. He earned his honors PhD in “Pharmaceutical Sciences—Pharmacognosy” at the Medical University of Łódź in 2002. He is a member of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society (PTFarm), Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE), and the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA) - Gesellschaft für Arzneipflanzen- und Naturstoff-Forschung (GA). Since 2019, Tomczyk has been an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Pharmacology (sec. Ethnopharmacology), Metabolites (MDPI), and Open Chemistry (DeGruyter) and a member of the editorial board of the following journals: Planta Medica, Acta Pharmaceutica Hungarica, and Pharmacognosy Communications.
