Dr. Cheng Zeng is a Lecturer in renewable energy and sustainable technologies at the Energy and Environment Institute, University of Hull; a Chartered Engineer (CEng); a Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE); and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Dr. Zeng has made significant contributions to the fields of low-carbon energy systems, building energy efficiency, and renewable technologies. Over the years, Dr. Zeng has co-led and participated in 10 high-impact research and engineering consultancy projects. For instance, as key researcher, Dr. Zeng developed a novel cooling technology for data centers, which achieved a 90% reduction in energy consumption; this project was also a finalist at the 2022 RAC Cooling Awards. His work extends to a range of fields, including innovative greenhouse cooling and ventilation systems, local exhaust ventilation systems, office building retrofitting, and residential retrofitting. He has published over 15 articles and presented his research at more than 10 international conferences. He serves as a reviewer for the British Council UK-ISPF (International Science Partnership Fund). His research interests include thermal energy storage, thermochemical energy storage, evaporative cooling systems, heat pumps, building energy efficiency, and other low-carbon solutions applied in buildings.
