Prof. Dr. Nikki Johnston is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She serves on the Board of the World Organization for Specialized Studies on Diseases of the Esophagus (OESO) and is a Governor of the OESO-Stanford Esophageal Multi-disciplinary Program in Innovative Research (SEMPIRE) Pilot Center Platform. She received her B.S. in Anatomical Sciences at the University of Dundee in 1999 and her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Pathology at the University of Dundee in 2002. Furthermore, she is also a member of the American Association for Cancer Research. Her research interests mainly include extraesophageal reflux, the use of pepsin as a marker for extraesophageal reflux, and the uptake of pepsin by laryngeal epithelial cells and its role in reflux-attributed laryngeal injury and disease.
