Dr. Takahiko Ban works in the Division of Chemical
Engineering, Department of Materials Engineering Science, Graduate School of
Engineering Science, Osaka University. He studied at Nagoya University from
1997 to 2001, and he earned his Ph.D. there. Then, from 2001 to 2004, he worked
in the Molecular Engineering Institute, HENKEL Research Center of Advanced
Technology. From 2006 to 2007, he worked in the Doshisha University Faculty of
Engineering Department of Materials Science and Engineering (2006–2007) and the
Yamagata University Faculty of Engineering Department of Materials Science and
Engineering (2004–2006) at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. From
2007 to 2011, he worked in the Faculty of Science and Engineering
Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Doshisha University.
Since 2011, he has been at Osaka University. He is a board member of the
Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan, Kansai Branch. He was awarded the
Frontier Award in Fluid & Particle Processing Division from the Society of
Chemical Engineering, Japan, in 2021. His research interests include
non-equilibrium thermodynamics, active matter, and the maximum entropy
production principle.
