Dr. Rui Matos is an Associate Professor at the School of Education and Social Sciences of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (where he has taught since 13 November 1989), of which he was dean between 2013 and 2017. He received his Ph.D. in Human Kinetics (2008) from the Faculty of Human Kinetics, Technical University of Lisbon, and his Master's degree in Child Motor Development (1997) from the same Faculty and his Degree in Physical Education (1989) from the Institute of Physical Education of Lisbon (current Faculty of Human Kinetics). He is the author of several books and technical-scientific articles in the area of sports. Currently, he is the sub-coordinator of the Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development (CIDESD), a reviewer and member of the editorial boards for several international magazines, and an award-winning writer in several literary contests. His main object of study is motor behavior, in the components of control, learning and, above all, development.
