Dr. Tony Punnoose Valayil received a B.E. degree and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, in 2009 and 2020. He received an M.E. degree in Machine Design from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India, in 2013. He received a prestigious fellowship for the National Scientific Program “Petar Beron i NIE” (P. Beron) 2021 from the Bulgarian National Science Fund. He completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Robotics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria. He has research and teaching experience in Indian research institutes and affiliated engineering institutes. He is a member of IFToMM (International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science). He worked under the project financed by European Union Structural Funds through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF) for the operational program "Science and education for smart growth" at the Centre of Competence “Smart Mechatronic, Eco- and Energy Saving Systems and Technologies", Institute of Robotics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. His research interests include mechanics of serial and parallel robots, rehabilitation robotics, and underwater robotics. Previously he was assistant professor at mechanical engineering department. His teaching interests include mechanisms and machines, control theory and mechatronics, and statics and dynamics.
