Dimitrios K. Moutopoulos is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Animal Production, Fisheries and Aquaculture of the University of Patras. He received his Ph.D. in Ecosystem-based Fisheries Management from the University of Western Greece. He has more than 20 years of experience in research, education, and administration. His research interests include impacts on marine ecosystems and transitional waters triggered by fisheries and anthropogenic activities, EU legislation on fisheries and aquaculture affairs, and socioeconomic data analysis in fisheries. Additionally, he has data analysis, statistical, and programming skills as well as experience with both qualitative and quantitative data. Having interacted multiple times with fisheries stakeholders for projects he has been involved in, he has extensive experience in successfully engaging them in research. His experience in education includes teaching and training higher-education students, professional end-users, and various stakeholders. The subjects he has taught include fisheries biology and ecology and fisheries legislation. His administrative experience draws primarily from his work on EU and Mediterranean fisheries legislation as well as from data collection and maintenance of large databases. He is also a member of the 2019–2022 Scientific Technical Economy Committee for Fisheries (STECF) of the European Commission.
