Célestin Mairesse is the scientist responsible for Emergency Microbiology at the LHUB-ULB, a position he has held since 2023. He holds a Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). His expertise includes pathogen detection, antimicrobial resistance, and the development of advanced diagnostics for infectious diseases. Prof. Delphine Martiny is Head of the Microbiology department of the LHUB-ULB, one of Europe's largest university hospital laboratories. She completed her PhD studies in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. She has published more than 70 papers in various journals and is a foreign correspondent member of the Académie Nationale de Pharmacie (Paris). In addition to her role at the LHUB-ULB, Prof. Martiny has been responsible for the Belgian National Reference Center for Campylobacter since 2013 and Haemophilus influenzae since 2015. She is also a lecturer at the Université de Mons, where she teaches principles of microbiology to medical course students. Her skills and expertise include Laboratory Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Bacteriology, Mass Spectrometry, Enteric Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning.
