Author Biographies

Shruti Ashish Lahoti received her Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture (2008) and her Ph.D. in Sustainability Science at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (2020). She joined the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in 2020 and is now a policy researcher. Before her current role, she was a researcher at the United Nations University.
Dr. Shalini Dhyani is a principal scientist at the CSIR-National Environment Engineering Research Institute, India. She is Asia Vice Chair and Steering Committee member for the Commission on Ecosystems Management of IUCN and Visiting Scientist CIFOR-ICRAF (2021–2025). Shalini works on interlinkages between socio-ecological systems, following diverse knowledge systems and sustainability science approaches for ecosystem health assessments and implementing nature-based solutions (NbS). Shalini is experienced in multi-sectoral integration in climate-sensitive restoration for developing resilient landscapes by improving corporate–community partnerships. She has been the lead author of the IPBES global thematic assessment on the sustainable use of wild species and the Asia-Pacific regional assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services. She has published many research papers and edited books and popular articles on mainstreaming NbS in reducing biodiversity, climate change, land degradation, and disaster risks. She has been the recipient of various national, as well as international, financial grants and awards. She also has many high-impact peer-reviewed national and international publications, four edited books, and popular articles to her credit.
