Dr. Jianzhong Luo is the current team leader of genetics and breeding at the China Eucalypt Research Centre, Institute of Fast-Growing Trees, Chinese Academy of Forestry, and a key breeding scientist for the China Eucalypt Industrial Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance. Dr. Luo holds a PhD from Nanjing Forestry University and an MSc from the Chinese Academy of Forestry. His research directions include genetic material testing of eucalypt pulp wood and veneer wood as well as evaluating hybrid breeding and clonal breeding. The main research projects he has been involved in include the Sino-Australian cooperative project “Development of germplasm and production systems for cold tolerant eucalypts for use in cool regions of southern China and Australia”, selection and breeding of high-yield and high-quality new varieties of eucalypt, and sustainable eucalypt pulp breeding for the China Eucalypt Breeding Alliance.
