Dr. Andrzej Kędziorski is a long-time researcher at the University of Silesia and lecturer in human and animal physiology and biological foundations of behavior. He is a co-author and translator of teaching and scientific materials for students. He also conducted classes for school youth. He is a co-author of two popular science books for youth: "The World of Animal Dependencies" and "The Amazing World of Arthropods," published in the series "Animal Secrets."
Prof. Maria Augustyniak is a Professor and the leader of the Nanotoxicology Research Team at the Institute of Biology, Biotechnology, and Environmental Protection at the University of Silesia in Katowice. She obtained her MSc in Biology (University of Silesia: 1994) and PhD and DSc in Biology (University of Silesia: 1998 and 2010). She was promoted to Full Professor in 2018. Her scientific interests are aging theory, stress theory, and the theory of selection under anthropogenic pressure; ecotoxicology, environmental pollution, risk assessment, metals, pesticides, and other xenobiotics; toxicity/biocompatibility of nanoparticles; oxidative stress and DNA damage under the influence of various environmental stress factors; the reproductive potential of organisms under anthropogenic stress; phenotypic plasticity, acclimation, selection, and adaptation in the light of environmental pollution. In addition, she was laureate of numerous team and individual awards of the Rector of the University of Silesia; she was also nominated for the "Scientist of the Future" award (Intelligent Development Center, Poland).
