Prof. Dr. Marco Cantonati, Top Italian Scientist (TIS) of Via-Academy and included in the list of Stanford University’s Top 2% Worldwide Scientists since the first edition, works as a professor in systematic botany at his alma mater, the University of Bologna (Italy), and was formerly a Section Head (Limnology & Phycology) at the MUSE—Museo delle Scienze, Trento, Italy. Moreover, he is an associate researcher at Drexel University (PA, USA). He received his M.Scs in Biology and Natural Sciences at the University of Pavia (Italy) and his Ph.D. in Ecology of Inland Waters at the University of Innsbruck (Austria). His research topics mainly include the biology, ecology, paleolimnology, and ecohydrogeology of inland waters and the biodiversity and ecology of microphytobenthos.
Dr. Olena P. Bilous currently serves as a senior researcher at the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Furthermore, she is also a scientific project employee at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. She received her M.Sc. in Biology at the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University in 2009 and obtained her Ph.D. at the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2012. Her research deals mainly with the biodiversity of algae, its nomenclature, taxonomy, ecology, and geographical distribution.
