Dr. Ga-young Choi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI), working in the Center for Bio-imaging Translational Research. Her research focuses on understanding the intricate synapse structures and their functions in animal models of degenerative brain diseases using Bio-HVEM technology. She also explores the principles of neural information transfer in the brain's hippocampus, which is vital for memory and learning processes. Additionally, Dr. Choi conducts electrophysiological studies on potential new drug candidates for epilepsy treatment and investigates their mechanisms through a multielectrode system. Her work further includes analyzing behavioral experiments in animal models related to learning and memory. Dr. Choi earned her Ph.D. in Alternative Medicine from the Department of East-West Medical Science at Kyung Hee University in 2022, where she also completed her Master's degree in 2016. Her expertise spans across bio-imaging, mathematical sciences, neurophysiology, and the development of therapeutic approaches for neurological disorders.
