After studying electrical engineering and gaining some practical experience, Prof. Dr. Jürgen G. Bokowski studied mathematics and physics (with a focus on fluid mechanics) and obtained his doctorate at the TU Berlin. This was followed by teaching and research activities at the Ruhr University Bochum, the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), the Université 6 (Paris), and the Universidad National Autónoma de México. He worked at the TU Darmstadt for almost 30 years, from which he retired in 2008. His research areas include convex geometry, combinatorial geometry, integral geometry, geometry of numbers, and the theory of oriented matroids. He has published numerous articles and books in these areas. His passion for geometry in all its facets is evident in this work and arouses enthusiasm when reading it.
