Dr. Anna Sauerbier is a Clinical Research Fellow to Professor K Ray Chaudhuri. She is currently working on her PhD project titled: “Range and nature of non-motor symptoms in people with Parkinson’s: exploring
possible ethnic differences between white Caucasian, black African/Caribbean and South Asian population in London, UK.” at King’s College in London. During her medical studies at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, she successfully completed her MD thesis. Furthermore, she has been awarded several scholarships and has received multiple prizes, including the runner-up price during a poster competition at the Neuroscience symposium at King’s College, London in 2014. She is an active member of the European Academy of Neurology Residents and Research Fellow Section (EAN-RRFS), a member of the Association of British Neurologists, an associate member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (IPMDS) and one of the coordinators of the IPMDS Non-motor study group.
Prof. Keyoumars Ashkan is currently a Professor at the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He has a special interest in functional neurosurgery, image-guided surgery and surgery for brain and spinal tumours. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, especially in developing novel treatments for brain tumours and for Parkinson's disease. He is the Co-Chair of the Neuroscience Research Delivery Unit at King's College Hospital, the immediate Past President of the British Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, Past Chairman of the Surgical Group of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, and Lead for the Genomics England programme for brain tumours. He has published over 600 peer reviewed papers, abstracts and book chapters and was voted 'Clinician of The Year' by the Brain Tumour Charity in 2018.
Dr. K. Ray Chaudhuri is Professor of Neurology/Movement Disorders at King’s College Hospital (KCH) and King’s College London and Director of the Parkinson Foundation International Centre of Excellence at
King’s College. He is Chairman of the Industry Engagement Committee, Co-Chair of the Task Force of the Parkinson Wellness Committee of the Movement Disorders Society (MDS), Founder, Ex-Chairman, and current steering group member of the MDS Non-Motor Parkinson’s Disease (PD) Study Group, and a member of the MDS-ES Education committee and Evidence-Based Medicine Committee (non-motor symptoms). He is the author of over 500 articles, co-editor of 5 books on PD and restless legs syndrome, and winner of the British Medical Association Book Awards commendation in 2015 and 2017. He is also the recipient of the 2018 Jay Van Andel Award Outstanding Achievement in PD Research (pioneering holistic assessments and non-motor subtypes), as well as the National Institute for Health Research/Royal College of Physicians' award for outstanding research leadership in 2017. He was elected an honorary member of the Movement Disorders Society in 2021, Honorary Professor at Brasov University, and Honorary Professor at SRM University, India and received the UK NHS Gold merit award in 2021 for
excellence in research and clinical service. In 2022/2023, he was ranked fourth in the world for his Parkinson's publications/expertise since 2014 and no. 1 in the UK (expertscape: PD).
