Marie-Laurence Winandy received a master’s degree from Université Catholique de Louvain Faculté de Médecine et Médecine Dentaire. Then she completed her Ph.D. studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain in 1999. She also obtained a Master’s in Biotechnology and Genetics from Université de Liège Faculté des Sciences. From 2007 to 2014, she served as a postdoctoral researcher and facility manager at the University of Liège. She has been employed at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, University Hospital of Liège, Belgium, since 2017, where she obtained the Quality Assurance position in 2023. Her current research interests concern pulmonology, with a focus on interstitial lung diseases. Her team takes part in clinical studies concerning diseases leading to lung fibrosis.
Julien Guiot (MD, PhD) heads clinics in the Respiratory Medicine Department of the University Hospital of Liège. He is also a principal investigator at the GIGA Institute and associate professor at the
Faculty of Medicine at the University of Liège. He completed his master's degree in medical sciences in 2009, his specialization in respiratory diseases in 2015, and in intensive care in 2016. He defended his PhD thesis in biomedical sciences in 2017. All were obtained at the University of Liège. He has mainly investigated idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (clinical and biological characteristics, as well as extracellular vesicles). He has expertise in various pulmonary diseases (PAH, pf-ILD, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, etc.) and developed a specific expertise in imaging and radiomics. He is a member of the European and the Belgian Respiratory Society.
