Assistant Professor Petar Ozretić, PhD, is a senior research associate and head of the Laboratory for Hereditary Cancer at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI), Zagreb, Croatia. He obtained his Diploma degree in Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science, Zagreb (2005) and a PhD at the Postgraduate Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies in Molecular Biosciences, Osijek (2013). Since 2006, he has been working at the RBI: in 2006/2007 as professional associate; in 2007/2013 as an assistant/PhD student; in 2013/2017 as a senior assistant/postdoc; in 2017/2023 as a research associate; and since 2023 as a senior research associate. Since June 2019, he has been the head of laboratory. From 2018, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. His two main research topics are genetics of hereditary breast/ovarian cancer syndrome (BRCA1&2 genes) and epi/genetic dysregulation of the Hedgehog-GLI signaling pathway in various tumors such as ovarian, breast, prostate, melanoma, head, and neck. He is one of the co-founders and, from 2009, secretary of the Croatian Association for Cancer Research (HDIR).
