Prof. Byong Hun Jeon is a Professor at the Department of Earth Resources and Environmental Engineering at Hanyang University. He earned both his MS and Ph.D. degrees at the Pennsylvania State University, PA, USA in 1998 and 2001, respectively. Subsequently, he served as a Post-doctoral researcher at the Pennsylvania State University and The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Then, he was appointed an Assistant Professor (2005–2009), Head Professor (2010–2011), Associate Professor (2009–2014), and a Professor (2014) at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Yonsei University. After that, he joined the Hanyang University. His research interests include (1) Environmental Biogeochemistry with an emphasis on interfacial phenomena such as (de)sorption, oxidation/reduction, mineral precipitation/dissolution, (2) Biotechnology for biofuels (methane, hydrogen, ethanol, and diesel) production using anaerobic digestion and fermentation; and (3) (Bio)remediation using physicochemical and biological methods. Specific interest has been in the microbial degradation of micropollutants.
