Tatjana Paunesku is a Research Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology at Northwestern University, specializing in radiation biology and nanotechnology. She earned her Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of genomic instability caused by ionizing radiation and the development of nanoconstructs for biomedical imaging and cancer therapy. In addition, she is interested in use of x-ray spectroscopy in biology and was involved in development of the Bionanoprobe, x-ray fluorescence microscopy instrument. In addition to her innovative work in radiation biology, she has published extensively, contributing to our understanding of the complex interactions between nanomaterials and biological systems and advancing the potential of nanotechnology in both diagnostic imaging and cancer treatment.
