AHMED ZOHA received
the PhD degree from the esteemed 6G/5GIC Centre, University of Surrey, Guildford, U.K., in 2014.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the
James Watt School of Engineering, University of
Glasgow, Glasgow, U.K. He has more than 15
years of experience. His research interests include
AI, machine learning, and advanced signal processing. His research has been cited by national
and international bodies. His contributions in de-signing intelligent applications and algorithms for
5G and beyond, connected healthcare, and smart energy monitoring have
gained local and international recognition. He was the recipient of three
prestigious IEEE best paper awards and endorsed as a UK exceptional talent
by the Royal Academy of Engineering, awarded to early-career world-leading
innovators and scientists. He actively contributes to organising IEEE and EAI
conferences, serving in various leadership roles.
I am a Professor in the James Watt School of Engineering and lead the Engineering Interactive Devices (END) research group. I am also Convenor of Postgraduate Studies and held previous industrial positions at Nortel Networks and IBM Research GmbH. I was a research scientist at EPFL's PV Lab, where I worked on the device modelling of thin film solar cells.
I hold a PhD from the University of Cambridge in Electronic Engineering. I also obtained my DIC and MSc from Imperial College London, as well as my BEng from King's College. I am Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Senior Member of the IEEE, a Principal Fellow of RET and a Member of the IET. I am also the Regional Chair of IEEE's Education Society in Scotland and the Chair of the IET Pedagogy in Engineering and Technology TN. Beyond these roles, I served as an External Examiner for both undergraduate and PhD degrees at universties that included Queen's University Belfast, Robert Gordon University, Coventry University, Queen Mary University and Sussex University. I am also an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Education.
