Author Biographies

Dr. Lay-Kim Tan has been an active researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Ministry of Health Malaysia since 2011. In March 2021, she received a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Science from the University Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak, Malaysia. Since 2023, she has led the iLUPUS project that aims to identify the homogenous subgroup of Malay SLE patients based on proteomic and transcriptomic profiles. Over the past 13 years, she has authored and co-authored in several peer-reviewed local and international medical journals. During her postgraduate studies, she received local and international awards. Her research areas of interest are molecular pathology in autoimmune diseases, specifically systemic lupus erythematosus and applied nutrition epidemiology (public health).
