ZAKA Ur Rehman received his B.Eng. degree
in computer system engineering, majoring in multimedia from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur,
Pakistan, and his M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering majoring in computer vision and machine
learning for medical imaging from COMSATS,
University Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2017. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. with the Artificial
Intelligence for Digital Pathology Centre, Faculty
of Engineering, Multimedia University, focusing
on pathological image analysis. From 2018 to 2021, he was a Lecturer with
the Department of Computer Science, The University of Lahore. His research
interests include medical image analysis, content-based image retrieval, and
computer vision.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Multimedia University, and the Head of the MMU-UKM-IMU IMU Artificial Intelligence for Digital Pathology (AI4DP) Research Excellence Consortium. He received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer Science from the University of Southampton in 2004. From May 2013 to June 2014, and April to June 2017, he was with the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as a visiting scholar, where he worked on machine intelligence for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. He is a recipient of several awards such as the 2016 MCMC Senior Researcher Award, 2016 TM GCEO Merit Award, 2017 MMU Excellent Researcher Award, 2020 IEEE SPS Meritorious Regional/Chapter Service Award, and 2021 IEEE Region 10 Outstanding Volunteer Award. Additionally, he is a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), which has helped greatly in expanding his research network. His main research interests include the areas of signal and image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision, and medical imaging.
Dr. Wan Siti Halimatul Munirah Wan Ahmad received her B.Eng. degree in electronic engineering, majoring in multimedia, and her M.Eng.Sc. and Ph.D. from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Malaysia. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2017 to 2023. Her interest in digital pathology started in 2021, when she joined the Artificial Intelligence for Digital Pathology Centre, Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University. She is currently with IMU University as research and academic staff, focusing on AI model development on pathological image analysis. Her research interests include medical image analysis, content-based image retrieval, and data mining.
Prof. Fazly Salleh Abas is an Associate Professor at the
Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Multimedia University. He obtained
his Ph.D. from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 2004 in the
field of image analysis and pattern recognition. Since then, he has been working at
Multimedia University, Malaysia. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the
Clinical Image Analysis Laboratory, at Ohio State University, Columbus, working
in digital pathology and image analysis. He also served as a faculty dean from
2016 to 2023. His research interests include (but are not limited to) image
processing and analysis, digital pathology, medical image analysis, and video
analytics.
Prof. Dr. Lai-Meng Looi is a distinguished Professor at the
Department of Pathology, University of Malaya (UM). She holds a concurrent
appointment as a senior consultant histopathologist at the University of Malaya
Medical Centre (UMMC). She studied medicine as a Malaysian Federal Scholar at the
University of Singapore (1970–1975), where she was a medalist in Pathology and
Social Medicine, and won King Edward VII Hall awards for literary works, art
forms, and poetry. She trained in surgical pathology at UM, Royal Postgraduate
Medical School (UK), and Brigham and Woman’s Hospital, Boston, USA, and
defended her research doctorate (on amyloidosis) at UM. In 2010, she was honored
as an RCPA Distinguished Fellow and Inaugural National Distinguished Professor
(Professor Ulung Negara). She was named in Stanford University’s list of the
World's Top 2% Scientists in 2022. Additionally, she is a Foundation Fellow and
Academician of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and has served as Chief
Censor and Scribe of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia. She has more than 200
peer-reviewed publications, mainly on amyloidosis, nephropathology, and
oncopathology, and is devoted to promoting research and an ethical culture among
researchers.
