Guangsheng Zhou has been the Vice President of China Meteorological Science Academy from 2008-2021, and a professor at the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1997. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1993–1995, an Associate Researcher, at Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1995–1997 and the Director of the Institute of Atmospheric Environment, China Meteorological Administration from 2002–2008. He obtained a Bachelor of Science at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Nanjing University, from 1983–1987, a Master of Science at Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, from 1987–1990 and a Doctor of Science at Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, from 1990–1992. He won the National Science and Technology Progress Award, Ecosystem Carbon Flux Networked Observation and Model Simulation System for Terrestrial Carbon Budget Assessment in China, Second Prize, National level, in 2010 and National Outstanding Youth Fund Winner, National level, in 2006.
