Rafael Valim Xavier de Souza earned a Bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering from the Federal University of ABC, São Paulo, Brazil, in 2013. He subsequently obtained a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 2014, with research focused on demand response policies within the Brazilian electricity market. Currently, Rafael Valim is pursuing a PhD in Energy at the same university, with research concentrated on demand response, power system operations, and operational planning. He has professional experience in the energy sector with companies such as Linde Gases and General Motors, as well as consulting work in the electricity market.
Thales Sousa graduated in Electrical Engineering from São Paulo State University “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, SP, Brazil in 2001, obtained a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the São Carlos School of Engineering, São Paulo University, Brazil in 2003, and obtained his Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the São Paulo University in 2006. From 2003 to 2009, he was a researcher at São Paulo University. Since 2011, he has been a professor at the Federal University of ABC, Santo Andre, SP, Brazil. He is the author of a wide bibliographical production that includes project R&D, contributions in books, articles in periodicals, and congresses of international reputation. He has experience in the field of electrical engineering, with emphasis on electrical power systems. His areas of interest are operation, planning, and regulation of electric power systems.
