Elise Arlt is a veterinarian with a focus on laboratory animal science. She completed her veterinary studies at the University of Leipzig in 2021. Following her graduation, Elise began her doctoral research at the Institute of Anatomy at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg. Her PhD research, conducted within the GRK2751 InCuPANC program, focuses on the role of natural killer (NK) cells in early pancreatic carcinogenesis, a crucial area of study for understanding the immune system's interaction with cancer development. In addition to her doctoral work, Elise is undergoing specialized training to become a certified specialist veterinarian in laboratory animal science. Her expertise in both research and clinical practice makes her a valuable contributor to the advancement of veterinary and medical sciences.
Heike Kielstein works at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg. After studying human medicine in Hanover and Rennes (France), she received her doctorate in 1998 on a topic related to visceral surgery. In 2007, she was appointed junior professor of endocrinoimmunology at the Hannover Medical School. Since 2015, she has headed the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, the continuing education center for clinical anatomy, and the Meckel Collections at Martin Luther University (MLU), Halle-Wittenberg. Since September 2022, she has been Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at MLU, Halle-Wittenberg. She received the Ernst Eickhoff Prize for Endocrinology, among other things, and was named "Professor of the Year 2017" in the Medicine/Natural Sciences category by the UNICUM Foundation. She carries out research on obesity-related cancers, tumor immunology, and teaching issues in gross anatomy.
