Prof. Dr. Zhisong Yang is an associate professor at the College of Life Sciences, Xihua Normal University. He received a PhD at the College of Life Sciences, Lanzhou University, in 2007. From 2007 to 2009, he was a lecturer at the College of Life Sciences, Xihua Normal University. In 2002, he became the consultant for the Giant Panda Monitoring Demonstration Project in the Wanglang Giant Panda Nature Reserve. He has won the third prize in Science and Technology from the People's Government of Gansu Province and the Best Poster Award from the Chinese Ornithological Society. The scientific research projects he undertakes include the investigation of giant pandas and their habitat conditions in the connection zone between the Qionglai Mountains and Daxiangling Mountains, the assessment of the impact of earthquakes on the populations of giant pandas and antelopes in Tangjiahe Nature Reserve, and the study of the impact mechanism of grazing on giant pandas. His research areas are giant panda conservation biology, molecular systematics, and bird ecology.
