Reda R. Mankbadi is a distinguished professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department, College of Engineering, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He has served as the founding dean of the College of Engineering and was also the research director (2002–2007). He graduated from Brown University and received his Ph.D. in engineering. Before his current role, he served as a senior scientist and fellow at NASA and as a professor at Rutgers and Cairo Universities. He has contributed significantly to the advancement of science in the areas of propulsion, aeroacoustics, turbulence, and energy. His research has been funded by the NSF, NASA, AFOSR, and other agencies and industries. He co-founded the Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP). He has received several honors and awards in recognition of his scientific contributions. This includes selection as one of only six fellows of the NASA Lewis Research Academy and as an Ohio Board of Regents Professor. He received the Federal Service/NASA Sustained Superior Performance Award and the Presidential Medal (Egypt) of the Sciences and Arts of the First Order. He is a fellow of the Royal Norwegian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and a fellow of the German National Scholarship Foundation. He is a U.S. Fulbright Scholar and has been elected ASME fellow.
