Prof Lange has a BSc in Biology, a
MSc and a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Iceland. She has held visiting
research fellowships from the EMBO and IUBMB to the University of Tromsø, the University
of Oxford, and the University Hospital Basel. Lange received the Prof.
Axelsson´s Investigators 2005 Award for advancing understanding in vertebrate
immunity and development. From 2006-2016 Lange was a post-doctoral research fellow in
neuroscience and regenerative medicine at University College London, pioneering
research on central nervous system regeneration and extracellular vesicle communication, receiving the 2015 Young
Scientist Award from the Icelandic Biological Society. In 2016, Lange joined the
School of Life Sciences, University of Westminster as Lecturer, then Senior Lecturer and Reader in Molecular Pathology. In her current role as Professor of Molecular
Pathobiology and Lead of the Pathobiology and Extracellular Vesicles Research
Group, Prof Lange leads a pioneering cross-disciplinary research programme in
Experimental Pathology and Pathobiology, elucidating novel mechanisms
underpinning the evolution of the immune system and fundamental pathobiological and
physiological processes. She fosters strong interdisciplinary and international
collaborations with academic, clinical, and industrial partners. Prof Lange is
Fellow of The Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) and Fellow of The Linnean Society
