Dr. Paul J. Camarata is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He earned his BAS and MD from Stanford University and the University of Kansas School of Medicine, respectively. Arriving to lead the Department in 2010, he was previously a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery (Neurosurgery) at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and before that an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of the Cerebrovascular Laboratory at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He served on the Executive Committee of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons for 10 years, and as a Treasurer for 3 years. He has also served as the Treasurer and President of the Neurosurgical Society of America. He currently serves as a Vice Chair and Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. His interests are in open cerebrovascular surgery and surgery of the skull base.
