Dr. Xiaoxiong Zha is a professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology. He obtained a B.S. from the Wuhan Institute of Urban Construction (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology) in 1989 and a Master’s (1994) and Ph.D. (1996) in Structural Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (1996–1998) and an associate professor and a director of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (1998–2000). From 2001 to 2002, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Aston University. From 2002 to 2003, he was a senior visiting scholar at the University of California. Since 2004, he has been a professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology. He has been awarded many awards, including second prize in the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Architecture Society of China in 2020. He is Chairman of the Steel–Concrete Composite Structure Branch of the China Steel Structure Association, Executive Director of the China Steel Structure Association, a Member of the International Steel–Concrete Composite Structure Cooperation Research Association, and a Member of the China Thermal Insulation and Sound Insulation Materials Association. His research interests include steel–concrete composite structures; building sandwich insulation boards; light steel mobile house structures; steel structures and thin-walled steel structures; structural fire protection engineering; and carbon dioxide-modified materials.
