Xiaohui Yan received his Bachelor’s degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2012 and his PhD from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2016. From 2016 to 2019, he was an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Fuel Cells, School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. And he has been an Associate Professor since 2020. His research interests include fuel cells; water electrolysis; electrochemical energy conversion and storage technology; and heat and mass transfer in electrochemical energy systems.

Lei Xing joined the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Surrey, as a lecturer in September 2022. Prior to this, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in different universities, including Loughborough University, University of Oxford, Purdue University, University of Birmingham, etc. Dr. Lei Xing received his PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering from Newcastle University in 2014. His research interests include sustainable energy, carbon capture and utilization, artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization, water treatment, and particle technology, with a specific focus on multi-physics, multi-phase flow, multi-variable and multi-objective optimization, and techno-economic analysis of renewable energy-based systems consisting of chemical and electrochemical reactors, i.e., fuel cells, metal-air batteries, flow batteries, electrolyzers for hydrogen production, and CO2 reduction. Dr. Lei Xing has worked across disciplines and established national and international collaborations with colleagues from chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. He is a Chartered Member of IChemE (MIChemE), fellow of higher education (FHEA), Editorial Board Member of Energy and AI, Energies, Frontiers in Energy Research, and more, and Guest Editor, Topic Editor, and Review Editor of several journals.
