Jiantong Zhao is the Deputy Director at the Faculty of Architecture, Jilin Jianzhu University. He graduated from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University (Bachelor of Architecture), School of Architecture and Built Environment, University of Nottingham, UK (Master of Architecture), and School of Architecture, Tsinghua University (Doctor of Engineering). He worked for Shanghai North Architecture and Design Office, and German gmp Architecture and Design Office, Beijing. He served as a post-doctoral associate at Tsinghua University, and a visiting scholar at University of California, Berkeley. He has also participated in one project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project of Special Research Fund for Doctoral Discipline Points in Higher Education, one project of Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, and won the Silver Prize of Architectural Creation Award of Architectural Society of China in 2016 (urban design category). He has published one monograph, more than forty academic papers, and translated more than ten papers in English by foreign experts and has guided students to win many awards in national and provincial design competitions. His teaching disciplines include urban design, and his interests include urban design and its theory and architectural design and its theory.
