Dr. Amit Misra obtained his B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (now IIT-Varanasi), India in 1989, his M.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1991, and his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1994. He is currently the Edward DeMille Campbell Collegiate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan and the Faculty Director of the Michigan Materials Research Institute (MMRI). His research expertise is in experimental nanomechanics and electron microscopy of defects and interfaces in metallic materials.
