Author Biographies

Ju Gao received B.S. of Science from Tsinghua University in China, M.S. of Science from the University of Windsor in Canada, and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Since 1999, he has served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIUC. He mainly research on fundamental problems in electromagnetism and quantum mechanics, with an emphasis on practical and industrial applications. His contributions include work on Thomson scattering in intense lasers for measuring laser intensity, electron tunneling ponderomotive potentials, and quantum electrodynamic effects in photo-ionization and harmonic generation by intense lasers. He has published over 50 papers in international journals. More details, see his ResearchGate profile. Besides his academic work, Prof. Gao has much experience in industrial R&D. He was a senior scientist at APL Engineered Materials in U.S., where he contributed to the development of high-purity rare earth products for industrial applications. Later, he became Vice President of Technology at Chaozhou Three-Circle (Group) Co., Ltd. (CCTC) in China, leading pioneering projects on solid oxide fuel cells and ceramic plasma lamps. He is also the founder of Fuelture Energy, a company based in Shanghai and Hong Kong focused on developing next-generation fuel cell systems for electric aviation and other novel applications. He holds 10 U.S. patents and over 40 Chinese patents.
