Prof. Dr. Xingmin Wang is the current Deputy Director of the Department of Entomology at the College of Plant Protection, Director of the Engineering Research Center for Biological Control of the Ministry of Education, and Deputy Director of the Joint Research Center for Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Citrus Diseases and Pests in China and Pakistan. He worked at the College of Plant Protection, South China Agricultural University as an Associate Researcher from 2014 to 2022. He graduated from South China Agricultural University in 2009 with a PhD in Agricultural Insect and Pest Control. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree, he entered the State Key Laboratory of Pests and Rodents in Agriculture and Forestry, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences for Postdoctoral research from 2010 to 2012. From 2013 to 2014, he went to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organization of Australia (CSIRO) Institute of Ecology as a visiting scholar. In addition, he also serves as a member of the Insect Classification and Fauna Committee of the Chinese Entomological Society, a member of the Youth Work Committee of the Chinese Entomological Society, a member of the Beetle Professional Committee of the Chinese Entomological Society, and an editorial board member of the Journal of Applied Entomology, etc. He mainly engages in research on biological pest control, insect classification and evolution, etc.
Dr. Fan Song is an Associate Professor at the College of Plant Protection of China Agricultural University. He graduated from China Agricultural University with a bachelor’s degree in plant protection in 2011 and a Ph.D. in agricultural insects and pest control in 2016. He then continued to complete his postdoctoral research at China Agricultural University from July 2016 to May 2019. From March 2017 to March 2018, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Then, in May 2019, he joined China Agricultural University as an Associate Professor. He participated in a National Natural Science Foundation of China International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Project “Comparative Mitochondrial Genomics and Phylogenetic Research of Paraneoptera” (No. 31420103902) from 2015 to 2019 and a National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Project “Evolution of Diet and Key Morphological Characteristics of Heteroptera” (No. 31730086) from 2018 to 2022. His research directions are (1) mitochondrial genome fragmentation in insects and (2) biodiversity detection and food web analysis in agricultural ecosystems.
