Prof. Kristina Haugaa is Head of the Unit for Genetic Cardiac Diseases, Department of
Cardiology, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet, and an associate
professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo. Prof.
Haugaa is a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She
finished her PhD thesis in 2010, which included electromechanical studies in
patients with cardiac genetic disorders and patients after myocardial
infarction. Her research is focused on developing risk-stratifying tools for
life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. She has more than
160 international scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and was
awarded an Early Career Award in June 2018 for her excellent research and leadership
skills.
Prof. Helge Skulstad is Head of the Section of Cardiac Imaging at Oslo University Hospital,
Rikshospitalet, and also the Leader of the research group of Integrated
Cardiovascular Function at the Department of Cardiology, Institute of Surgical
Research. He received his MD in 1990 and Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in
2006 from the University of Oslo. Prof. Skulstad has extensive knowledge in
Doppler echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and cardiac
imaging, as well as in experimental research and clinical studies. The main
topics of his research are regional myocardial function, deformation
echocardiography, valvular heart disease, cardiac resynchronization therapy,
and automatic cardiac monitoring.

knowledge of cardiac ultrasound, CMR, CT, and hemodynamics. Prof. Edvardsen
received the Ole Storstein’s Award in 2007 and The National Association for
Public Health's Heart Research Prize in 2021. He was elected as the EACVI
President in 2018–2020 and is an Honorary Fellow of the European Association of
