Dr. Kotb B. Tawfiq received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University, Menoufia, Egypt, in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium, in 2022. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University, Menoufia, Egypt, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University. His main fields of interest include power electronics, matrix converters, renewable energy, electrical machine drives, and the design and control of electrical machines. He serves as a reviewer in several journals and conferences and a Guest Editor in Special Issues for the journals "Electronics", "Mathematics", and "Machines".
Prof. Peter Sergeant is a professor in Electrical Drives at Ghent University and core lab manager in the cluster Motion Products of Flanders Make. He received his M.Sc. degree in electromechanical engineering in 2001, and his Ph.D. degree in engineering sciences in 2006, both from Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium. In 2001, he became a researcher at the Electrical Energy Laboratory of Ghent University. He became a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University in 2006 (postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation-Flanders). Since 2012, he has been an associate professor at Ghent University. His current
research domain is electrical machines and drives for industrial and for sustainable energy applications. The focus of his work is on the accurate computation of losses in machines and drives, improving energy efficiency, and increasing power density.
