Author Biographies

Prof Attilio Olivieri is full professor of Hematology at Università Politecnica delle Marche, Head of Hematology Dpt and Transplant and cellular Therapy Unit of Azienda OspedalieroUniversitaria delle Marche, Ancona-Italy. He is an expert in all the stem cell transplant fields (particularly in GVHD management) and in cell processing.  From 2006 to 2011, he was Responsible for the National Autologous Transplant Network (GITMO) and, since 2015, Chairman of the Italian Group for Transplantation (GITMO) for GVHD management. In 2014 and 2020, he was involved as a member of the NIH Board for the new Consensus Conference on cGVHD.  He has long experience as a PI in ICH\GCP trials. He has published several papers mainly covering the cGVHD aspects, autologous/allogeneic transplantation, leukemia/lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma treatment. Member of the Italian Society of Hematology and Experimental Hematology (SIE and SIES), GITMO (Italian group for Stem cell transplantation and cell therapy), EBMT, and American Society of Hematology (ASH). Both a former and current reviewer of several Scientific Journals such as BMT, BBMT, Haematologica, British Journal of Haematology, Frontiers of Hematology, Leukemia and New England Journal of Medicine. Author of more than 200 full peer-reviewed papers, two chapters of international Books, two Books of Hematology (1 Italian; 1 English language) and more than 500 abstracts; invited speaker and chairman in several Italian and international meetings.
Dr Giorgia Mancini is Physician at Hematology Dpt and Transplant and cellular Therapy Unit of Azienda OspedalieroUniversitaria delle Marche, Ancona-Italy. She completed her PhD studies in Major at the  Università Politecnica delle Marche. Since 2012, she has been dedicated to the management of transplanted patients, with particular attention to the problems of GVHD and endothelial damage syndromes. In this context, she has published several abstracts and full papers and was an invited speaker at national and international conferences. She contributed significantly to the construction of software dedicated to the evaluation of the response to treatment in patients with cGVHD and is responsible for the management of the post-HSCT long-survival clinic, with particular attention to late effects. She also has a lot of experience in cell processing and is responsible for the processing facility of the Hematology Dpt of Ancona. In 2023 she has been involved as a member of the Italian National Council for the new guidelines on GVHD. She is also a PI in ICH\GCP studies. She has contributed to several articles mainly concerning aspects of cGVHD, autologous/allogeneic transplantation, leukemia/lymphoma, multiple myeloma, TTP and HUS treatment. She is a member of GITMO (Italian Group of Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy) and of EBMT.She is co-author of a chapter in two books on Hematology. She carries out activities as a QM inspector during inspection visits for Jacie and CNT.
