Azar Hakimi (Student Member, IEEE) received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering and communication systems in 2015 and 2018, respectively. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Alberta. Her research interests include wireless communication systems, the Internet of Things, backscatter communication, wireless information and power transfer, non-orthogonal multiple access communications, MIMO communication, cognitive radio, and intelligent reflecting surfaces.

Dr. Diluka Galappaththige is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alberta, Canada. He obtained his B.Sc. degree (first-class honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. Dr. Galappaththige has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from NSERC for the academic year 2024-2026. His current research interests focus on wireless communication, signal processing, convex optimization, machine learning for wireless networks, including massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) communication (i.e., co-located mMIMO and cell-free/distributed mMIMO), full-duplex communication, and backscatter communication, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), near-field ISAC, wireless power transfer, and emerging technologies for enabling 6G. He was a recipient of the Exemplary Reviewer Award for IEEE Wireless Communications Letters (TWCL) in 2020, and IEEE Communications Letters (TCL) in 2021. He has actively served as a reviewer for a variety of IEEE journals and conferences, including TCOM, TVT, TGCN, IEEE Access, IEEE Network, TCL, TWCL, ICC, and GLOBCOM.

Chintha Tellambura is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta. He received his BSc in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (with first-class honors) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1986, and his MSc in Digital Electronics from the University of London, U.K., in 1988. In 1993, he earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, BC, Canada. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the University of Victoria (1993–1994) and the University of Bradford (1995–1996). He served as a lecturer (January 1997–December 1998) and a senior lecturer (January 1999–June 2002) with the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, before joining the University of Alberta as an Associate Professor (July 2002–June 2006). His research interests include cognitive radios, detection and estimation, diversity and fading countermeasures, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, multiuser communications, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), and relay-assisted/cooperative communications.
