Prof. Xianfeng Chen is a second-level professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Safety Science and Emergency Management of Wuhan University of Technology and a visiting scholar at WPI in the United States. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2007 with a doctorate in safety technology and engineering. He is the leader of the first-level doctoral program in safety science and engineering and the leader of the innovation group of Hubei Provincial Key Fund and was selected as a "Hubei Famous Teacher". He is currently a member of the Teaching Committee of Safety Science and Engineering of the Ministry of Education and the vice president of the School of Safety Science and Emergency Management. He is also the vice chairman of the Dust Explosion-Proof Sub-Committee of the National Explosion-proof Electrical Standards Committee, a member of the Academic Committee of the China Fire Protection Association, a member of the Public Safety Science and Technology Society, an expert of the State Council's Major Accident Investigation Team, and a Hubei Provincial Safety Production Expert. Her research interests include industrial safety and fire and explosion prevention, hydrogen energy safety and emergency technology, risk assessment of explosion of hazardous chemicals, and risk assessment, monitoring, and early warning of urban lifelines.
