Dr. Shizhao Fan received his Bachelor’s degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Science and Technology of China in 2011. He completed his PhD studies at McGill University in 2016. He undertook his postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2016 to 2020. Currently he is an Associate Professor at Suzhou Nano Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include epitaxial growth of ScAlN/GaN heterostructure towards high-frequency, high-power HEMT, high-Sc-content ScAlN epitaxial thin film for acoustic resonator and ferroelectric memory, and selective area growth of InGaN nanowire arrays and photonic crystal micro-LEDs.
Dr. Qian Sun received his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Physics at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2002 and his Master’s degree in Microelectronics and Solid State Electronics at the Institute of Semiconductors, CAS, in 2005. He completed his PhD studies in Engineering and Applied Science at Yale University in 2009. He served as an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University (September 2009–May 2010) and the Epi R&D Scientist at Bridgelux, Inc. (June 2010–October 2011). Currently, he is a Professor at Suzhou Nano Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include Heteroepitaxy of III-Nitride semiconductors on Si substrates; GaN-on-Si Optoelectronics, including blue/green/UV LEDs and laser diodes; and GaN-on-Si Power Electronics and RF Electronics, including e-mode HEMT, SBD, PiN, and JBS.
