Aleksandr Podshivalov is a Scientific Engineer at the Research
Center for Bioengineering, ITMO University. He received his Master of
Engineering degree from Saint Petersburg State Technological University of
Plant Polymers in 2011 and his Ph.D. from ITMO University in 2015. Currently, he
is focusing on characterization of the morphology and functional properties of
polymer blends, composites, and nanocomposites. The main project is the
development and investigation of the biocomposite edible films and coatings
based on biopolymer two-component matrices as blends of starches, agars,
pectins, gelatins, collagens, and their biocompatible derivatives. For the
functionalization of the matrices, various reinforcing, plasticizing,
bacteriostatic, and antioxidant fillers are introduced. He is also a
member of Prof. Dr. Bronnikov Sergei's research group. His team is
studying the molecular dynamics, relaxation processes, and electrical
conductivity of nanocomposites based on conjugated polymers, such as
polyazomethines, filled with various carbon nanoparticles.
