Author Biographies

Jorge Ortega-Márquez earned, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), an MD degree (2023), and is currently a candidate for a Master in Medical Science in Clinical Investigation Candidate at Harvard Medical School, mini-MBA candidate at Harvard GSAS Business Club, and Student Member of Harvard Innovation Lab (Health Care & Life Sciences Program). He is now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard University. He has received multiple awards including the Academic Merit Youth Award, Mexican Government (2023); One of 100 brilliant minds of Mexico, Mexican Medical Alliance Society (2022); Dean’s Scholarship, Harvard Medical School (2023); Special Public Health Scholarship, Harvard Mexico Foundation (2023); Clinical Research Scholar (2022) Award and Outstanding Teaching Assistant (2023), Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His research interests include personalized medicine, rehabilitation, neuromodulation, neuroplasticity, medical innovation, and computational neuroscience.

Kevin Pacheco-Barrios earned, from San Martin de Porres University, an MD degree (2017), an MSc in neuroscience (2019) from Cayetano Heredia University, and an MPH in quantitative methods from Harvard University. He is now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Harvard Medical School. His work in neuromodulation and neuroepidemiology has resulted in 150 publications, and more than 30 presentations at international congresses. He received an R03 NIH research award (2024) and an emerging scholar award (2022) from the American Neurological Association. His research interests include pain neuromodulation, neurorehabilitation, complexity science, and knowledge translation.
