Author Biographies

Prof. Dr. Igor F. Canisso received his veterinary training from the Federal University of Parana, Brazil, and his Master's degree from the Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil. After concluding his master's, he took on a fellow position at Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom. Thereafter, he moved to the United States to receive residency training in theriogenology (Animal Reproduction) at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Ithaca, New York. After completing his residency, he moved to the University of Kentucky where he obtained his Ph.D. in Reproduction. Upon completing his Ph.D., he started at the University of Illinois initially as an assistant professor, and now is an associate professor of Theriogenology. He is a board-certified veterinarian specialist by the American College of Theriogenologists and by the European College of Animal Reproduction. His research interests are perinatology, reproductive efficiency, semen biotechnology, reproductive toxicology, and reproductive physiology. He is interested in ruminants, canids, and equids, but his special interests are horses and donkeys.
